Another small excursion

I brought both my red panda and my dog to a movie night last night.

Jewell, the dog, was a little fidgety, but Tails, the red panda, was mostly well behaved.  Jewell isn't allowed any snacks at all due to a liver condition, but Tails can (and will!) eat pretty much anything.
She was sitting in my lap, snuggling, and I was giving her some Cheez Doodles, and I had a bit of fun with her, stuffing them in a little quicker than she could chew and swallow.  In hindsight, that was maybe not the most cuddly thing to do, but it was intended in good fun.  She reacted a little strongly to that and took out her frustration on me.

A little later, when I was taking both pets outside for a bit of air, she sat at my feet, looking up at me, as if to apologize for her reaction.  When I picked her up and hugged her tight, something new stirred in me.

Of course, it's hard to tell exactly what she feels about me, but she at least expresses deep affection for me.  What I feel for her, though, I don't really have a word for.  It is, of course, a very positive emotion, and it makes me all warm just thinking about it.  Hopefully I'll find a way to express it in a way she will understand and appreciate.

After the movies were over, the dog had already fallen asleep, and Tails looked about ready to doze off as well, so we went on our way.  I stopped by somewhere to get us some food, as Tails gets really cranky in the morning if she isn't well fed when she goes to sleep.  I was spending the night with a friend and his daughter, the same ones I've mentioned on this blog before, so Tails was just really happy to hop into her bed there and go to sleep.  I sat and talked with my host for a while, just stroking Tails' head while she was falling asleep, and she had all but drifted off by the time I went to bed myself.

Sadly, the inflatable bed I had brought to sleep on was broken.  I spent most of the night basically sleeping on the floor, seeing as my bed would deflate at a rate where it was just not realistic to re-inflate every time I woke up.  That bed is no longer with us, I can tell you that for a fact!  Anyway, in the morning, I finally caved in and went to sleep on their couch.  I would have done that from the start, but it's a tiny bit too short, or I'm a tiny bit too tall, so it's not really that comfortable.  It's more comfortable than the floor, that's for sure, so I did get some sleep.

I snore.  A lot.  Tails actually got up, dragged her bed into the next room, and went to sleep there.
Jewell doesn't mind my snoring, and will happily sleep right on my rumbling chest, but Tails is more sensitive to it.  I don't want to keep her awake, so I'm going to give the doctor another try to see if there isn't anything that can be done about my sawmill impression.

All in all, however, it was a great little excursion, and Tails seemed pretty happy when she went home to her current owner.  Hopefully we will have many such trips, minus the broken bed and, hopefully, with less snoring.
