I'm planning a trip to Stockholm this coming weekend, and I'm taking Tails with me.
Her current owner consented to me being her de facto owner for the weekend, with all the responsibilities it involves. Tails loves to travel, so I'm sure she'll enjoy both the trip and our time in Stockholm.
I do have one worry, though...
Tails gets bored easily. I guess that goes with the territory when dealing with a wild animal, so I don't mind at all, but it can blindside me if I don't plan for it.
I mean, it's over three hours on the train! How do I keep a red panda entertained, on a train, for three hours?! Of course, I do have some ideas. I think just providing plenty of cuddles will keep her calm, but I'm also going to make sure she is entertained in other ways.
I'll be bringing some of her favorite toys along and I've bought some new toys specifically for the trip. Hopefully, this will keep her entertained. I've also stocked up on her favorite snacks, and intend to keep her entertained with a bit of training. Of course, it'll have to be low-key in public, as nobody on the train is there to watch pet training, but I think it'll be a bunch of fun.
I've considered keeping her awake the night before, just so she'll sleep a lot on the train, but I don't think that's a good idea. It'll throw her rhythm off, and I risk her feeling uncomfortable and sleepy the whole weekend.
All in all, I've planned everything very loosely so that I can adjust as we go. I like to have a general idea, and have some details nailed down, but over-planning things always leads to stress and disappointment. We're going on this trip for fun, and to further bond as pet and owner, and not to squeeze in as many points of interest as possible.
I also made sure the hotel we're staying at is friendly to our needs, and that the room has everything we need that we are not bringing. They were really great about the whole thing, and a lot of what I need is already standard for the hotel.
I can't remember when I last looked forward to a trip this much. This is going to be great!
